John W. Nichols, CPA

John was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Duke University in 1968, served in the Air Force as an instructor pilot from 1969 to 1973, and received a Masters in Accounting degree from Syracuse University in 1975.

Following graduation from Syracuse University, John began his accounting career with Price Waterhouse in Syracuse, New York. He transferred to the Jacksonville Price Waterhouse office as an audit manager in 1980, and has been a resident in this area ever since. He began his own CPA practice in 1984 here in Orange Park, Florida.

John is a Certified Public Accountant who has over thirty yeas of public accounting experience. Currently, he is chiefly responsible for the planning and business consulting areas of the firm. John is actively involved in his clients' business purchase and sale investigations, litigation assistance, forensic accounting, IRS representation, as well as estate and trust administration. He provides annual income tax services to individuals and business along with tax planning and estimates.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has been actively involved in the community, serving as a Board Member and Treasurer of St. Johns County Day School for 14 years


Esther D. Nichols, CPA

Esther was born on the island of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. She and her family moved to the States in 1981 and has been a resident in Northeast Florida ever since. She is a graduate of the University of North Florida, where she earned Bachelors degree in accounting and a Masters of Accountancy. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida with over eighteen years of public and private accounting experience.

Esther has been working at The Nichols Group, P.A. since 1997 and has been actively involved in serving the needs of all types of clients at the firm. Esther is currently responsible for supervising audits, tax preparation, and consulting for small to medium size businesses, individuals, governmentals, not-for-profits, estates, trusts, pension plans, and other commercial entities at the firm.

Esther has a strong technical and computer background that allows her to offer technical support to clients, including software support and accounting software conversions. She provides tax advice, planning, and preparation services to individuals and businesses, as well as budgeting assistance and management consulting.

Esther was a founding member and Treasurer of the Clay County Victim Services Center. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Quigley House, a local domestic abuse shelter. She has also been actively involved in the community through small business networking groups and other non-profit organizations.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also maintains the additional educational requirements to comply with the Governmental Auditing Standards in order to issue GAAS financials and comply with Single Audit requirements.


Paul A. Bucci, CPA

Paul moved to Orange Park from Chicago in 1985 and has been a resident ever since. He has a Bachelors degree in accounting and a Masters of Accountancy from the University of North Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida with over thirteen years of public accounting experience. He has also maintained the additional educational requirements to comply with Government Auditing Standards which are necessary to provide audits of governmental entities.

Paul brings a versatile skill set to The Nichols Group, where he has been since 2004, providing a high level of service and expertise in a range of areas from accounting and audit to tax planning and preparation, as well as management consultation for several organizations, both for-profit and not-for-profit, spanning a wide range of business industries. He also provides individual tax planning and preparation services. Additionally, he is currently responsible for supervising certain governmental, not-for-profit and commercial entities' audits and reviews at the firm.

Paul has served on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer for We Care Jacksonville and as a member of the scholarship committee for Frum Tha Ground Up, both local not-for-profit organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
